Mission Statement

The Construction Sector Council (CSC) is committed to the development of a highly–skilled workforce and a safe workplace environment that contribute to the organizational productivity and individual prosperity of the members of the construction industry. We will achieve this through the joint efforts of labour and business in promoting the skills development of our workforce.

Strategic Objectives

To carry out this mission, the CSC has identified six main areas to target for results:

- Advanced career and workforce training

- Operational sustainability
Each area has its own strategic objectives for the CSC:
- Apprenticeship
- to promote apprenticeship in the trades
- to ensure that training and certification is portable
- to help set national standards
- to liaise with the apprenticeship community
- Advanced training
- to expand opportunities for skills upgrading
- to play a leadership role in promoting career development
- to help industry develop a skilled workforce
- Partnerships
- to support other skills development organizations
- to co–ordinate sector–wide HR issues
- to forge links with related organizations
- to provide an information clearinghouse
- Youth
- to improve the recruitment and retention of youth
- to promote construction as a viable career
- to demonstrate the economic importance of construction industry
- Technology and research
- to provide better labour supply/demand information
- to research and advise on emerging technologies
- to research labour market trends
- to advise on apprenticeship financing
- Operational sustainability
- to ensure sustained industry support and develop revenue–generating activities
