The Construction Sector Council (CSC) is committed to the development of a highlyskilled workforce and a safe workplace environment that contribute to the organizational productivity and individual prosperity of the members of the construction industry. We will achieve this through the joint efforts of labour and business in promoting the skills development of our workforce.

To carry out this mission, the CSC has identified six main areas to target for results:

Each area has its own strategic objectives for the CSC:
- Apprenticeship
- to promote apprenticeship in the trades
- to ensure that training and certification is portable
- to help set national standards
- to liaise with the apprenticeship community
- Advanced training
- to expand opportunities for skills upgrading
- to play a leadership role in promoting career development
- to help industry develop a skilled workforce
- Partnerships
- to support other skills development organizations
- to coordinate sectorwide HR issues
- to forge links with related organizations
- to provide an information clearinghouse

- to improve the recruitment and retention of youth
- to promote construction as a viable career
- to demonstrate the economic importance of construction industry

- to research and advise on emerging technologies

- to advise on apprenticeship financing
